Ontario Internet Gaming Registration
Ontario is Canada’s largest province and was the first Canadian province to license private online gambling operators. Gambling operators are regulated by, and must partner with, the Ontario government.
Overview
In Canada, because gaming is federally regulated, we have one set of rules that all provinces must follow. According to the Canadian Criminal Code, only provinces, not private operators, can lawfully conduct and manage Internet gaming in Canada. Almost all Canadian provinces offer some form of gaming online. Recently, the Ontario government has taken the position that the ability to “conduct and manage” Internet gaming means the right to license private operators.
We’ve helped many operators and suppliers obtain gaming registrations and comply with Ontario gaming laws, as well as consult with media companies, affiliates, advertisers, and payment processors to expand their understanding of the space and what they are allowed to do.
